Phones are Good

The counter argument that smartphones are a distraction and are actually good for you, is made here by a UK network in this amusing commercial. A viewpoint that our own Madison Ashley-Cooper would agree with.

Throughout history there have been a lot of disasters that have happened because of a lack of warning. The very thing smartphones were built for, with their constant alerts and geo-tracking. So, what if smartphones had always been around? Would world events have happened differently? Would we be different today as a human race?

“If we had access to a smartphone some previous events would not have happened.”

It does raise the important question of whether or not certain future events will not happen because of the smartphone existence. The alerts, the newsfeeds, the instant access, creates a constant warning system. Something our ancestors never had.

“They can be devices of extreme good.”

Has the alert on your own smartphone helped you in a situation that without that alert it would have ended in a negative way?
